A little bit about us...

Tomaree peninsula is located within the Port Stephens area. It does not have a hospital where chemotherapy and radiotherapy are available. For treatment breast cancer patients must go to Newcastle, which is close to an hour's drive away.
 
We provide free of charge grass-roots support for:

• Transport to and from all appointments in Newcastle and Maitland (or locally)
• House cleaning and lawn mowing are provided in certain circumstances. Tomaree Breast Cancer Support Group Inc. assess on a case by case basis
• Wigs and surgical sleeves
• Underarm cushions for any patients
• Any other help required

As the Tomaree Breast Cancer Support Group Inc is a non-profit organisation which does not receive any government financial assistance, it relies on the generosity of its local community to raise funds. We hold two major fundraisers per year.

These are:

• In The Pink Breakfast: held at the Nelson Bay Bowling Club on the third Wednesday in October
• In The Pink Fun  Golf Day: held at the Nelson Bay Golf Club on the third Tuesday in March

Meetings are held at the Nelson Bay Bowling Club from 5.00pm on the first Monday in the month (February through to November). There will not be meetings on long weekends so please ring the Club (4981 1272) to find out the date of next meeting.

In addition, a morning tea for patients and members is held at different locations please contact Kym for further information. Morning tea is held on the last Thursday each month from 10.00am (February through to November).
