About us

People seek genetic counselling when they have concerns about their health or the health of their children with conditions which may be inherited.

Our Clinical Genetics service is a a team of clinical geneticists, genetic counsellors, medical oncologists and support staff, working together with other Austin Health specialists.

Our team provides genetic counselling which helps people make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing through genetic diagnosis, counselling and support.

Appointments are government funded and there are no out-of-pocket costs for attending an appointment.

Our services

We work with individuals, their families and their doctors to provide the following services:

• Assessment or diagnosis of a genetic condition
• Genetic counselling and discussion regarding genetic or genomic testing
• Advice about managing health or future health risks
• Support and counselling related to issues arising from a genetic diagnosis

We provide genetic counselling services at Austin Hospital, Mercy Hospital for Women, Northern Health and in the community.
