PalAssist (Palliative Care Support & Advice)

PalAssist is available from 7am-7pm, 7 days a week. It is a free service for anyone who has a life-limiting illness or condition, and/or their families and carers (subject to any costs that may be imposed by a client’s telephone service provider for 1800 number calls).

Our charter is to provide accurate information and compassionate support to those dealing with a life-limiting illness.

PalAssist is operated by a team of nursing and allied health professionals. We understand that every person’s journey is different, and offer individualised support and advice to our clients.

PalAssist Nurse Counselling Service

The PalAssist team are able to refer clients requiring additional support to the PalAssist Nurse Counselling Service.

The PalAssist Nurse Counselling Service provides support to those experiencing distress relating to their own, or their loved one’s illness.
Usually up to two telephone counselling sessions are offered with a follow up check-in call within two to three weeks.
Clients generally receive specific tip sheets relating to their concerns that they can refer to at home afterwards.
The PalAssist Nurse Counselling Service will also work with clients to identify options for ongoing support as required.

The service is funded by Queensland Health and provided by the Cancer Council Queensland. We are here to provide trusted advice, or simply to listen.
