Many people ask for donations instead of sending flowers for a funeral or in memory of someone they love. If you wish to make a one-off in-memory donation, you can:
- make a secure donation online
- phone 1800 500 258 during office hours with your credit card details
Organising a collection at a memorial or funeral
BCNA understands that the loss of a loved one is a very challenging and difficult time. If you have lost a loved one and wish to set up a donation in memory, we can assist in organising this for you.
If you are arranging a funeral, you can ask the funeral director to provide you with BCNA in-memory donation envelopes. If they are unable to help, please call 1800 500 258 during office hours to register your loved one's memorial, or email helpline@bcna.org.au with the details. BCNA provides donation envelopes that will assist in making the donation process easier for your family and friends attending the service. These will be sent via post within three working days. A letter will accompany the envelopes outlining how to return the donations to BCNA.
Once BCNA has received all of the donations from the memorial, we will send all donors tax-deductable receipts for donations $2 and over. We will also send the nominated family member an acknowledgment with the tallied amount donated in memory (for privacy reasons we do not disclose individual donations amounts).
Requesting donations instead of flowers
If you would like people to make a donation to BCNA instead of sending flowers, we suggest you make an announcement in the death notice. For example: 'Donations in lieu of flowers to Breast Cancer Network Australia would be appreciated.'
