When it comes to working together, Bakers Delight and BCNA rise to the occasion like a perfectly baked loaf.
Bakers Delight is more than just a partner; they're "breast friends" who have stood by us since 2000. They throw their energy (and their dough!) into helping us support people affected by breast cancer in Australia.
Thanks to them, we can make a real difference in the lives of the 20,000+ people diagnosed with breast cancer every year.
Our long relationship has led to initiatives like the annual Pink Bun Campaign. This campaign, which features the iconic Bakers Delight Pink Buns, is our biggest of the year.
2000: The start of a delightful partnership
Roger and Lesley Gillespie – the founders of Bakers Delight – heard BCNA founder Lyn Swinburne speak about her breast cancer experience.
Moved by Lyn’s vision that no-one going through breast cancer would feel alone, they asked what they could do to help. Lyn said she simply needed a desk, but the Gillespies wanted to do more: they offered not just a desk but also office space.
This generous act marked the beginning of a strong partnership that was formalised in 2000.
The iconic Pink Bun Campaign
Each May, a flush of pink spreads across Australia with all Bakers Delight bakeries (and Fun Buns) decorated to show their support for BCNA.
The Pink Bun Campaign sees more than 500 bakeries around Australia turn pink for 3 weeks and it’s a sweet way to make a meaningful contribution. 100% of all Bakers Delight Fun Bun and beanie sales are donated directly to BCNA.
But it’s not just about fundraising; it's also about using their profile to raise awareness and helping peoples' voices be heard.
Their favourite part of the campaign is the annual photo shoot to celebrate the Pink Bun ambassadors. It’s an unforgettable experience for the ambassadors, who have all faced breast cancer – a day where they can be vulnerable, emotional, happy, celebrated, and safe. Through this campaign, their stories are heard by millions of people and their faces appear in every Bakers Delight bakery around Australia.
We have franchisees and customers who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, so our connection to BCNA goes well beyond our partnership. Our relationship has thrived for more than 20 years because it’s not dependant on just one or two people – it really is a network of people helping each other.

What supporting BCNA means to Bakers Delight
For Bakers Delight, supporting communities is at the heart of their business and their brand.
Bakers Delight is a family business with more than 500 bakeries around the country. Each bakery is owned and operated by local families that are truly a part of their community.
When their bakeries turn pink each May, it sends a powerful message to their customers and those in the BCNA network: they’re ready to support and create change for the 20,000+ people diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
Our partnership started with them letting us use one desk and one computer in their head office. It has grown substantially, with the Bakers Delight Pink Bun Campaign now helping us to increase awareness and raise significant funds to help us deliver on our purpose.
After more than 25 years and with over $27 million raised, Bakers Delight takes immense pride in being the founding partner of BCNA. Supporting BCNA is more than a campaign – it's a heartfelt commitment to their community.
The power of our founding partner
The continuing support of Bakers Delight is the reason BCNA can be there for the 58 people diagnosed with breast cancer every day.
They’re the reason we can provide free information and support, create opportunities for connection, and be a voice for all Australians affected by breast cancer.
The partnership is a deep-rooted and cherished friendship that embodies support, empathy, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
“The generosity of the whole Bakers Delight team, year-after-year, is overwhelming,” said Kirsten Pilatti, BCNA CEO.
“Without the support of the franchisees across Australia and their communities, BCNA would not be here to provide the information and support Australians need as they navigate their breast cancer experience.”
