Integrative Health Webcast – complementary therapies enhancing wellness for people affected by breast cancer

Integrative Oncology is the use of evidence-based complementary therapies alongside conventional treatments in a coordinated way to help reduce side effects, enhance outcomes and support overall health, wellbeing and quality of life.

There are many different well researched types of complementary therapies including nutrition, acupuncture, oncology massage, yoga, meditation and exercise physiology. These integrative therapies may be helpful in managing some of the side effects of breast cancer and its treatments, such as anxiety, fatigue, lack of appetite, constipation, and pain and can help promote a sense of peace, comfort, and physical wellbeing.

As not all complementary therapies are evidence based, it's important to discuss any therapies or medicines you may be considering using with your treating team to ensure they are not harmful or do not interact negatively with your treatment.

In this webcast we will explore the main therapies that are beneficial and safe during treatment and into survivorship, discuss the recommended techniques to be used for self-care during treatment and touch on the use of complementary medicines and how to safely access them.
