Telling children about your cancer podcast released
Breaking the news of your breast cancer diagnosis to children is the topic discussed in the latest Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) podcast.
The podcast features John Freidsam from CanTeenAus and breast cancer survivor Anita Ledger. Topics discussed include when to tell them how much they need to know, dealing with a child in denial and the importance of keeping communication lines open.
It’s the latest addition to the BCNA podcast library, offering a range of in-depth discussions, hints and tips from a variety of experts including health professionals and BCNA staff as well as women and men affected by breast cancer.
The podcasts are hosted by writer and former Nine News reporter Kellie Curtain. Her book, What Will I Wear To Your Funeral?, tells the story of her mother's diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer.
This first season of Upfront About Breast Cancer has been made possible thanks to funding from the Dry July Foundation and the Supporting Women In Rural Areas Diagnosed with Breast Cancer program, funded by the Australian Government through Cancer Australia.
Six episodes are now available for streaming and new episodes will be added fortnightly, adding another medium of advice and support for members any time on smartphone or computer.
