Rising star Hugh Greenwood will be tying pink laces on his boots this season in his new role as ambassador for BCNA’s Pink Sports Day.
Greenwood's Mother 'Onny', who was his greatest supporter, passed away from metastatic breast cancer in October. Onny made every day count and lived well with the disease for nine years.
“It’s a great way to honour her but also raise awareness about breast cancer. It’s something I’m obviously incredibly passionate about and it also meant a lot to mum.”
Greenwood, 26, will also wear custom-made football boots, which feature “’09 mum” on the side, representing the year his mum was first diagnosed.
“She wasn’t shy about her journey and her breast cancer experience. Even when she knew no matter what she did she was going to pass away, she never felt sorry for herself,” he said.
“She always tried to help others going through something similar.”
BCNA is excited about partnering up with Hugh who will help by not only raising awareness but promoting our Pink Sports Day campaign, which encourages all sporting clubs Australia-wide to PINK up and hold an event in support of all Australians affected by breast cancer.
