BCNA recognises International Day of People with Disability
BCNA supports International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).
Held on Sunday 3 December, IDPwD aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disability.
This year’s theme is ‘Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all’. The overarching message behind the theme is to ‘leave no one behind’ and empower people with disability to be active contributors of society.
BCNA recognises that people diagnosed with breast cancer while living with a disability may face additional challenges.
BCNA supports all Australians affected by breast cancer. As part of this commitment, BCNA has resources designed specifically for people with a disability. These include fact sheets in Easy English and audio, as well as video resources.
These resources can help people facing breast cancer with a disability feel more in control and empowered to make decisions about their treatment and care.
There are also resources for carers of those with a disability and a diagnosis of breast cancer.
You can view these resources on the Facing breast cancer with a disability page.
