Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) is pleased to announce that young Melbourne City FC A-League star Corey Gameiro has come on board as the National Pink Sports Day Ambassador.
“I lost my nan to breast cancer in 2002, so I understand the huge impact this disease has on families and communities. Sport has always been a way to bring passionate people together, and holding a Pink Sports Day is the perfect way to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise vital funds to support people affected,” said Gameiro.
Corey will be wearing boots with our iconic BCNA Pink Lady logo in each game of the A-League season to help raise awareness and crucial funds to allow BCNA to continue to provide the very best support and information on treatment and care.
The Pink Sports Day is BCNA’s premier fundraising program encouraging sporting clubs and associations around Australia to ‘Pink Up’ in support of the 16,000 Australians who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. This is a fantastic opportunity for sporting groups and their local communities to come together in a show of support for all Australians affected by breast cancer.
All sporting clubs, leagues and associations – no matter what size or sport – are encouraged to get involved and hold a Pink Sports Day event. Although many clubs hold an event over the Mother’s Day weekend, Pink Sports Days run for 365 days a year and clubs are welcome to participate on any day. With Breast Cancer Awareness Month coming up in October, now is the perfect time to get involved!
Last year more than 1,200 clubs across the country took part to show their support for Australians affected by breast cancer. This year, BCNA hopes to raise $500,000 and is asking local sporting clubs and their communities to help reach this goal.
If your club can’t hold an event you can still help us reach our goal by contributing to another club's fundraising efforts.
