Real Tradies Wear Pink!
During August and September, we’re calling on tradies across Australia to wear pink, by pulling on a Pink Tradie beanie and a pair of BCNA pink socks, to support the 20,640 Australians expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
Pink up at work, host a fundraising event and start a conversation with your workmates about breast cancer, to help BCNA continue to provide information and support to those diagnosed and their families.
Have some fun and host an event to fundraise for BCNA!
Rally your mates together for a morning tea or BBQ at work, or maybe a golf day or head-shave is more your thing. However you decide to get involved, BCNA will send you a party pack to help you pink up your workplace.

BCNA’s Pink Tradie photo competition is back! Be sure to pink up in BCNA merchandise, post your photos to social media and use the hashtag #BCNAPinkTradie, to go into the draw to win a $500 gift card from our campaign supporters Middy’s Electrical and Bolle*.

Whether it’s calling BCNA’s Helpline, accessing My Journey or visiting our website, BCNA works to ensure that Australians affected by breast cancer have access to the most up to date and relevant information to help them make informed decisions about their treatment and care.
Meet this year's Pink Tradies
Peter Berkhout – Concreter, Vic
Peter’s mum, Andrea, was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in January 2013.
Andrea’s brave and determined attitude over the past 10 years is one of the reasons she is still here today, to share many precious moments with her family.
Peter is proud of his mum and wants to help other families that have been affected by breast cancer.
“Mum means the world to our family; she is the most caring woman and does everything to make sure we’re all happy even while fighting her own battle. Mum has always been happy to share her story in the hopes that she can raise awareness and help others who are also on their own breast cancer journey.”
Andrea has also been an inspiration to a lot of people in her local community. Despite her daunting diagnosis, she has continued to hold her head high and defy the odds.
“Breast cancer will always be a part of mum’s life, but she has taken it in her stride. Everyone in our community has seen strong she is and she shows others out there to stay positive and keep on fighting.”
She is determined to enjoy life for as long as she can and is very excited that her son Peter is part of this year’s Pink Tradie campaign.
Gareth Felton – Electrician, NSW
In February 2021, Gareth’s wife, Rhea, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Rhea was just 34 years old, and the couple had two daughters aged 1 and 3.
Finding out about Rhea’s diagnosis was the biggest shock they had ever experienced and the months following were a blur of appointments, tests, surgeries and treatment.
‘As a husband and a father, I stood still when I needed to, I crumbled in tears when I needed to, and I pushed away the world from my family when I needed to,’ says Gareth.
A professional in the construction industry, Gareth wants to show you can create meaningful change within your own community.
‘Last year was a bit of a blur, but now my family are out of the eye of the storm, I feel the urge to stand up to commend my wife on how incredibly proud I am of her efforts and perseverance in navigating the hugely fearful world of cancer as a young woman.’
Gareth is passionate about encouraging other tradies to feel comfortable talking about breast cancer, and supporting BCNA who supported his family through their toughest time.
