My story

At age 38 with a 3 yo daughter and 4 month old baby girl, I found a lump in my left breast whilst breastfeeding. You can see from my notes about me what my diagnoses was. Quick ... wean baby wean! On 20th September 2011 had Left Breast Wide Local Excision and Sentinel Node Biopsy. On 17th October 2011 commenced 1/6 cycles of TCH chemo and herceptin every 3 weeks. Had last chemo cycle on 30th January 2012 (thank goodness!). Herceptin to continue every 3 weeks for 18 cycles until October 2012. 1st March 2012 commence radiotherapy, 6 week treatment, 5 days per week, total of 30 treatments incuding 5 boosts; completed on 17th April 2012 (woo hoo!!).

Now I've finished the 'worst' of my treatment and continue with Herceptin. Have been very tired after radiotherpay and have been seeing my GP and a naturopath to help me through. Finally think the fog might be lifting 2 months after completing radiotherpay.

Am still scared about HER2+ diagnoses and what my outcome will be. Anyone have a crystal ball so I can see what will happen in the next 5 years?

I've just joined the network and have enjoyed reading different posts - it's reassuring knowing my feelings and worries are shared amongst others.

I've finished the 'worst' of my treatment since being diagnosed almost 10 months ago.

As I was HER2+ only, the more I read about this diagnosis the more scared I become, even with Herceptin. My two young daugthers must have picked up on my concern as they have become a little more clingy lately.

If only I could tell them, don't worry, mum will be around for a long long time!
