One Year On...
I woke up this morning and the sun was shinning through the curtains... I rolled over and gave my husband a hug just like any other day... then I thought... April 1... this time last year...
It's hard to believe that last year I did exactly the same, but last year my husband said..."I think you have a lump... here... feel here... it's not on the other side". It was the start of the most trying year of my life...and my introduction to Breast Cancer... 21 weeks of Chemo, 29 fractions of Radiation, Ovaries out, Arimidex ... etc...
PS: THE WORST IS OVER
Haven't blogged for a while.. but have certainly spent time reading others... it gives you strength! This is my PS.....;-)
Well, for me the worst is finally over! 7 months of Chemo followed by Radiation finished at the beginning of November. I then had my ovaries out and started Arimidex just over two weeks ago. Now it's time to think about returning to work (when school starts back next year)..
Advice - Radiotherapy
Hi Ladies... I need some advice... I'm start Radium next Tuesday... and am a little concerned about the side effects - ie: the readness etc (don't deal with pain well)... should I start moisturising the area now or wait till Radium starts?.. They mentioned sorbolene at the information session I went to but I've also read about Moo Goo and other stuff... is there anything out there better than sorbolene?
thanks in advance
Trina
Chemo Finished
I've just read over my old blog posts and am surprised on how far I've come. I've suvived the first 1/2 of my journey... thanks mainly to the support I've received from my fellow 'Pink Ladies'...
So today (well yesterday) was my last chemo.... 3 rounds of FEC followed by 9 weeks of Taxol... I have a 3 week break before starting 6 weeks of Radium.... It's amazing how easy it is to remember numbers and dates!! I found my lump 5 months ago... 1 April... and to put it midly was scared shxxless.
Now officially a 'Nude Nutt'
So.. survived (so far) my second round of Chemo... a little (well not so little) bout of nausea and the dredded fatigue.. but most (importantly?) I'm now officially a 'Nude Nutt'. Had enough of my hair falling out so my wonderful husband shaved it off this afternoon.... I actually feel liberated! Once I got over the idea that I had BC... and that I would loose your hair it was easy....
Now.. why does my celebratory glass of wine taste so horrible??
