Well off I went to the genetics people today and despite having 2 aunties, 2 first cousins with breast cancer and father with prostate cancer and a few other unrelated ca's in the family I do not qualitfy for testing, problem with mother being one of 13 apparently, oh well hopefully by the time my 15 and 13 year old daughters need to start tests in there 20's there will be a lot more options with the way genetic testing and theapys are coming along in leaps and bounds at the present time, certanly dont have a spare $2500 that is for sure
Cheers eveyone Narelle

Sucks!!!
Hi Narelle, that really sucks. I too didn't qualify however she was kind enough to tell me I am still considered a high risk family and now all of my sisters need and qualify for yearly MRI's. She also mentioned that although they didn't think it was BRCA 1 or 2 involved they did think mine was genetically related but they just don't know how or how to test that as yet. Then she said "so how do you feel about that"? What the F!!! how do you think I feel??? I then said to her if I hadn't been backed into a corner to go private I could of afforded to pay the $2500. The world works in mysterious ways. Lets hope a simple cure is found before our babies need suffer the same. Take care and I hope you got your surgeon, margins and scars sorted. Lara xx
margins still not sorted
Thanks Lara no still not sorted on the scars or margins, have just taken a little breather, I have to see the surgeon again at the end of the month so will try again then, think I have to go through with her doing the exchange surgery as that is the way medicare codes things, after that I will maybe go to bendigo as I am half way between there and ballarat so will maybe get another opinion from there, I told the genetics person it was lucky they where making advances in the testing as I thought my daughters lives where worth more than $2500, he didnt really have a response to that xx
