coloxyl & senna (laxative)
Hi there Such is life,
So, you ae home and sounds like you are in control.
Regarding the "number twos". I had my 2nd Chemo FEC100 today and mentioned that after the 1st I had constipation. My nurse recommended Coloxyl & Senna to me. I will get some tomorrow when hopefully the weather in Melbourne has settled.
All the best for a speedy recovery, Ann
Seroma and swelling
Hi Such is Life,
Dont be surprised if swelling continues and breast care nurse or your surgeon want to drain some fluid out (after your four friendly drains are removed). This is called a seroma and is perfectly normal response to mastectomy. Not sure if this happens with tissue expanders, as I didnt have those at the time (my reconstruction will be a year away).
Did you have any lymph nodes removed/axillary clearance? If so your arm /s may become stiff with cording. Tell your surgeon or physiotherapist if this occurs, as laser therapy will help mobilise the arm again.
Coloxyl with senna is a good idea to prevent any straining. Take 2 every night, and also in morning if need be,
Godluck, you are well on the way to recovery,
Cheers Sonia

Yippee!!! Well done you brave clever girl. So glad to hear you are doing well and are on the other end of your big surgery. I add my vote for Coloxyl with Senna also. I needed it after my first surgery. Next time I will not leave it as long. Rest up and stay positive. You are a STAR!!! Can't believe you are blogging already. Thanks so much for the update...
Well Done
So glad to hear you are through surgery and doing so well on Panadol/panadeine. If you are up and about and eating normally you will be back to normal in no time. Are you out of hospital yet? The tips from the girls on Coloxyl with Senna have got me taking notes too! All the best for your continued progress - you have such a great attitude - keep us up to date -
love and hugs, Michelle xx
Yay!
Hi gorgeous, I was wondering how you were doing! Don't forget the movicol! I'm off to get some today as my plumbing is currently up the clacker - thankyou Endone - and coloxyl doesn't work all that well for me.
Keep us updated!
Lots of love and hugs Danielle xxx
pear juice is a no goer
Hi dan, I am going really well thanks, lost two of my drain friends today, and the pain buster, so am down to just two drains now, and pain isnt to bad, I have only been on panado/panadeine alternating (my Choice) as any morphine based anything makes me sick from day dot, still yet to move that first big one so will have to take something tonight, had two big glasses of pear juice with no success, I should of brought a pedometer in with me I reckon I have done quite a few miles already, and as my breast surgeon dosent like anyone to go home with drains in might be here for awhile yet, still draining over 130 mls and has to be under 50, can see I will have to play the but I am a nurse card by monday will be stir crazy by then, did you get your final pathology back yet??
Cheers Narelle
No final path yet. Seeing oncologist Monday so she will hopefully have news. Fingers crossed its all good, if I have to go back again I may kick something! Go the movicol love. Its like united postal service; always delivers Baha! I'm currently waiting for my package!!!
The second resection hurt a shiteload more than the first, and my axilla is swollen and has been giving me curry but both are feeling better tonight so hopefully we are turning the corner.
Stay well chick and good luck for getting out!
xxx Dan
Hey Narelle, so glad to hear you are over the worst of it all and are up and about. I too had a bad relationship with morphine /endone, constantly threw up....would never be a junkie! lol!! I had one remaining pesky drain that kept me in till day 7. (I live in the country so being discharged with the drain still in tact wasn't an option) - but miracously overnight it reduced by 50ml and then I was free again!! I found that a few bowls of good old fashioned All Bran worked well in the downstairs dept. Anyway rest up and take care, thinking of you, Hugs Liz x
