Still in hospital

Posted by Tania67 on 28 Jul 2012, 09:11AM

Well, I am still here! There is still too much fluid so I cant go home until the drain comes out. 6 days already and I can not wait until I can go home and chill out on my own couch, sleep in my own bed, drink my own coffee!!!! My Plastic Surgeon should be here soon. So fingers crossed the drain can come out.

On a happier note. I got a call from my Breast Surgeon on Thursday. I AM CANCER FREE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoo Hoo......I didnt realise just how much I wanted to hear those words. Having my other breast off was definately the right decision for me. (I had another Mastectompy and reconstruction on Monday) There is no more fear and wonder. I will never have breast cancer again!! One of my girlfriends came into hospital last night with a bottle of Champagne and nibbles to celebrate!!!

I am fairly flat chested at the moment. My Plastic Surgeon said she wont start filling the expanders for 3 weeks, (I am guessing that is from the day she put them in). I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

What a year this has been for me, my family and friends.

I hope you are all doing well, what ever stage you are going through at the moment.

Congrats on the cancer free tatus 0 that is AMAZING news.

I had my drain in for 20 days, I just kept making too much fluid and my surgeons rules were had to be 30ml or less 2 days in a row before it could come out. I spent 14 days in hospital due to other reasons and came home with my drain and the community nurses came everyday to check, measure and change the drain bag an they then removed it when it was time (a totaly painless procedure - thankgoodness as I had had orthopaedic drains, and it was not the same experience).

Enjoy the time in hospital being waited on and no chores, think of it as a mini break with great boobs at the end :o)

Take it easy and enjoy the new boobs as they slowly expand :o)

Rest, be spoiled, def watch the games - I am flicking backand forth between the 8 channels on Foxtel so I can have any sport I want ! It's an excuse to lay about - not that I need another one - and to get all patriotic.

You enjoy, take special care of yourself.
