Reconstruction advice

Posted by kel016 on 16 Jan 2012, 02:35PM

hello !! Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the lat dorsi method of reconstruction, with implants both sides. Do they do it all in one go ? Both sides? Does the I plant have to be filled slowly . Forgive my ignorance as I haven't an app for a few mths so thought somebody would tell me of their experience. Oh and recovery after with the scars on back , any regrets? Thanks kel xx

Hi !!! What on earth is a bmx??? I'm sitting here with my husband trying to work it out!! Ok I may have worked it out . Is it bilateral mastectomy with double lat dorsi??

Sori....yes bilateral mastectomy with double lat dorsi reconstruction. Also Tissue Expanders to be filled with CO2 not implants. Am part of a trial being run by my reconstruction surgeon. Am hoping for less pain and reduced risk of infection from needle refill and quicker refill period. Downside is not able to fly until TE replaced with permanent implant.

Hi

Just watched the Skyshow fro my hospital room. Day 7 and all is well. Down to 2 drains from 8 and hopefully they will come out tomorrow and I will be going home. I am amazed at how well things have gone. More discomfort than real pain apart from first two days which i was able to control with the drugs. Niw just on panaol. Scarring is minimal. There does not appear to be any issues with the nipples....had nipple skin sparing procedure. Have held on to all my old scars! I was worried about my back but husband and daughter tell me scars are very small. Apart from some nerve twinges no problems. Able to sleep on back quite comfortably. Now waiting for path results. Happy to discuss. Hope all is going well with you.

WOW 8 drains :/ you sound so relieved it's all gone well, that's fantastic!!! Nearly finished hey? I can't remember if u said u had bc in one breast but decided to do both? Family history or precautionary? On my nexted visit to the docs I'm going to talk with him about the right side as I'm concerned they will miss something . He tells me that their mammogram machine is a MRI mammograms machine and that there's only around 3 in aust. So I shouldn't b worried as it will pick up everything!! Prob is I have a large fibrous mass on my right side that has dimpling on it. Although they tell me it's fine it really does worry me. Decisions decisions. So glad u r doing well, I only wish it was me laying there as well . Xx
