Half way there!

Posted by Anne W on 26 Jan 2012, 01:44PM

I had my 12 treatment yesterday so I'm at the half way mark. The time has gone quicker than I thought, but I can't wait until treatments are finished.

I have a little sunburn because I was stupid and managed to get sunburnt after a day at the beach before radiation treatments started. The sunburn has never healed.

Feeling pretty good though, and thinking about going back to work early. Although the doctor says the fatigue can increase towards the end of treatment.

I might wait and see how next week goes before rushing back.

Hi Anne

Congrats on being halfway.  It sure does go fast.  As my sureon said to me before I went off for radiation "Pace yourself and you will be fine".  I did and found that I wasn't so fatigued as I had been back in 2007.  Remember you are not SUPERWOMAN.  Take care XLeonie

I'm not too bad, but then I have been able to sleep in and relax while not at work

Good news on being half way through. It is amazing how fast it actually goes hey?  I am fine now but the fatigue really took hold of me and i was sleeping most of the day and most of the night  after 3/4 way through. I guess everything just caught up with me , i don't know.  I am fine now so that is all that matters. Good luck  with the rest of the treatment.  Cheers Jo xx

I'm very sluggish in the morning, but feel really well for the rest of the day

Hi Annes

Congrats on half way. The end will come quicker than you think. I was fine until week 4 then the tiredness hit me, I couldn't even drive myself to my appointments ! and sleeping the afternoon away. The burning continues for a couple of weeks after the treatment finishes so remember to take things easy and do what your body tells you. Hope it all goes well for you xxxx Hilary .

Thanks Hiliary

I'm going back to work but with the proviso that there is some flexibility. My doctor has requested a graduated return to work plan - so hopefully if I get too tired I can stay home. Feeling good now though, except for the incredibly itchy skin!

dont scratch

dont scratch or rub it,try and leave it alone or it will rub the skin off and it will blister. Not long to go,  Good luck  cheers Joxx

Fatigue

My fatigue did not increase past Week 3... stayed much the same. I was also to keep working about 5 hours per day without a problem. The fatigue did not stop until quite a few weeks  after treatment though.

Gook Luck, Fiona
