Last appointment
I had the final visit to my radiation oncologist last Thursday....I felt thrilled to pass this last milestone.
My skin has healed really well and the tan has almost disappeared! Although I now have a baby pink nipple.
I've been quite fatigued for the past six weeks and the silliest things have made me anxious. But I feel like I've now turned a corner and I'm more optimistic.
Until my next mammogram....
Radiation finally over
I had my last radiation treatment today and it feels so wonderful to have finished treatment. My skin is very burnt and sore, but the nurses have given me two pots of zinc and caster oil cream to apply. I don't think it will sink in that I don't have to go to the hospital until same time tomorrow!
Skin breaking
Only four treatments left and my skin has started to break down and flake under my breast. Sunburn has spread to under my arm. The nurses are now dressing the area for me with Intrasite Gel and non adhesive dressings- which is wonderfully cooling.
The last radiation treatment can't come soon enough!
Burning itch
Just had my 16th treatment and my skin has broken out in a rash below my breast and above it. It is so unbelievably itchy.
I have tried sorbolene and Dermacream with hydrocortisone, but it is only give me minimum relief. Tonight I put a cold face washer on my skin which is helping take some of the itch out.
Half way there!
I had my 12 treatment yesterday so I'm at the half way mark. The time has gone quicker than I thought, but I can't wait until treatments are finished.
I have a little sunburn because I was stupid and managed to get sunburnt after a day at the beach before radiation treatments started. The sunburn has never healed.
Feeling pretty good though, and thinking about going back to work early. Although the doctor says the fatigue can increase towards the end of treatment.
I might wait and see how next week goes before rushing back.
First day of Radiation Treatment Over
So pleased to have my first day of treatment over!
The nurses and radiology people were very caring and helpful. I was introduced to all the people in the room this time and there was only one young male.
Only took about 30 minutes once I'd spoken to the nurse, changed and was setup.
Although well and truly overslept this morning - I think it must have been the release of anxiety.
Anyway one down and 24 to go!
