My story

I am BCNA's Community Programs Manager and feel fortunate to be in contact with many amazing women through my role, particularly in working closely with the women involved in our Community Liaison and Member Group programs. These women are our links to communities across the country, working to support women and families and to raise awareness about the support BCNA can provide.

I also manage BCNA's forum events providing opportunities for women, family and friends to be informed and link together with others affected by breast cancer.

BCNA held the first Community Liaison training for women from rural/regional areas last week. 16 women from across Australia came together in Melbourne for two days to learn more about BCNA and how they can help raise awareness in their communities of the impact of breast cancer and our free resources.

Wow! The stories of women and supporters who travel long distances to attend our forum events continue to inspire me whilst also be a real reminder of the need to provide such opportunities to gain information and meet others affected by breast cancer.

Eight sleeps until I'll find myself standing on the MCG amongst 14,000 others. I last participated in BCNA's 2007 Field of Women LIVE event in Sydney when I was new to the organisation - wow, what an introduction to what our organisation is all about - the real people affected by the disease. I look forward to bumping into some familiar faces, so keep an eye out for me, I'll be the one in PINK!

My first blog! Exciting for me as I'm quite new to the world of social networking, however really excited about the possibilities our new online community will offer in terms of connecting women affected by breast cancer around the country.
