My story

BCNAs mission to empower, inform, represent and link together Australians affected by breast cancer is the reason I feel privileged to be part of the National Office staff.

Through my work with Member Groups and Community Liaisons I continue to met women who moved me, inspired me and humble me with their stories and their willingness to share them.

I have come to know that it is the stories that enable this organisation to fulfill its mission.

It's great to welcome The Doves to BCNA's network of Member Groups. The Doves are a group of friends who have experienced cancer who have been meeting for four years. They have now decided to open their doors to welcome new members in the hopes of being a place of support and friendship for others in the area who have experienced a cancer diagnosis.

You can visit their group profile page to learn more.

It's always exciting to be part of the planning for BCNA forums around Australia. Next week three of our staff (Lyn Swinburne, Amanda Winiata and Jess Weir) head to QLD to host another two forums as part of the 'Supporting Women in Rural Areas Diagnosed with Breast Cancer Program', funded by the Australian Government.

The first of the forums is being held in Rockhampton on Wednesday 9 June, which we learned is also Rocky Show Day. Over 130 people have registered to attending including members from followoing BCNA Member Groups:

What a night! This was my second Field of Women LIVE and like the 2007 Field, the 2010 Field was a night I will never forget. Seeing the Pink Lady sparkling so brilliantly left me awestruck.
