My story

I've been with BCNA since November 2009, initially as the Online Engagement Manager working on the development of this website, and now managing our resources (My Journey Kit, Hope & Hurdles and My Care Kit) and looking after our fabulous Breast Care Nurses.

If you need to contact me in the office, my details are -- email: dtreble@bcna.org.au, phone: 03 9805 2582.   BCNA also has a freecall number: 1800 500 258 and an online enquiries form if that's easier for you.

My connection with breast cancer is from when my aunt was diagnosed with late secondary breast cancer twelve years ago.

If you're wondering, my userpic is of me and my puppy on the beach down at Johanna in the middle of winter.  Yes, it was cold!! :)

Hi everyone,  just wanted to let you know that the online webinar for women with advanced cancers was a great success, and the video is now available. Here's the details for anyone who missed it:

Online webinar: When cancer changes your financial plans

The two videos, below are two parts of an online webinar that was presented in November 2012 for those affected by advanced cancers. The webinar was recorded live over 60 minutes and is split into two 30-minute parts (below).

Hi all -- anyone who's up in Sydney for the conference, make sure you come and say hi.  I'd love to meet you in person!

I realise my pic is not all that good for identification purposes (the puppy is cute, though, right? ;), but I'll be wearing a nametag, and I'll be hanging around the resources area.

See you there!

An exciting change for me

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know about a change in my responsibilities here at BCNA.  I'll now be looking after our resources (My Journey Kit, Hope & Hurdles, and My Care Kit) as well as looking after our Breast Care Nurses.

So, as a result, you won't see me around quite so much in the online network.  I'll still be here often, and will let you know what's going on in my area, but I'm confidently handing over primary responsibility for the online network to Daina who will be your main contact person from now on.

ADMIN: Adding images

Hi all,

We're currently looking into some code improvements to help make it easier for you to add images to your blog posts and comments.

First we need to fix a bug that is preventing some of you from linking to images now, and then we want to (hopefully!) see if we can find a way for you to upload images directly here that isn't too prohibitive for BCNA in terms of bandwidth and hosting costs (hosting images can be expensive).

For anyone close to central Melbourne, I've just received the following message from Alma Hughes regarding a Look Good Feel Better Workshop at their offices in Carlton:

"Cancer Council Victoria will be hosting a workshop for YOUNG women, 17-40 on Monday July 2, 10-12.30, at 100 Drummond St Carlton. We don’t currently have any registrations and would love to see the room filled, if possible."

You need to register (essential!) so you can receive your makeup kit on the day :).
