My story
I have been working with Breast Cancer Network Australia since June 2009. I am currently working as the Online Network Coordinator within the Online Engagement Team. We have been working away over the past 2 years on the re-development of the website and launch of this exciting new social network.
My first contact with BCNA was in 2000 when Lyn Swinburne came to the Bakers Delight head office and spoke about breast cancer and the work BCNA had been doing to support women and how with the support of Bakers Delight would be able to continue their great work. 10 years on and look at all that has been achieved!
In 2004 I left Bakers Delight and moved to London for 12 months. 12 months turned into 5 years and during that time breast cancer came into my life with my Auntie Val's diagnosis in 2006.
At the time I did not know what this meant - we had not had cancer in our family! She fought her way through with the support of our family and I would receive updates from back home. She was a very strong women but after 18 months she lost her battle. I didnt get to say goodbye, but I know she knew I loved her.

Dear Aunty Val, I will never forget your strong fighting spirit - I only hope I can hold onto that and carry it on in my life. Love always your Daina Kim.

National Breast Care Nurse Conference
I am looking forward to meeting the breast care nurses at the 13th National Breast Care Nurse Conference in Melbourne tomorrow.
One session will focus on 'Online social media - a new support and information sharing resource for women, their families and breast care nurses.' Di Treble (BCNA) and Jo Lovelock (Breast Care Nurse/Online Network Champion) will be presenting this session.
Good luck and we look forward to reading about how it went.

Sussan Women's Fun Run
Congratulations to all those who participated in the 5 and 10km Sussan Women's Fun Run yesterday. It just reinforced to me again how many people are affected by breast cancer and willing to get out there in support!
After the 10kms I was very happy but also very sore! I think it will be a bath and early to bed for me tonight.
Benefits of the online network | Looking for members to share their experience
We are looking to hear first-hand stories of how the online network is benefiting our members and how you are using it as a support tool. So, for those of you who have had time to familiarise yourselves with the BCNA online network, and have been interacting with others, we would like to hear about your experiences.
For example, we would love to hear about the connections the online network has been facilitating e.g.
New members to the online network
I have just come into the office this morning and have seen how many members we have on the BCNA online network!
