I have a reocurrance of Triple negative and now in my sternum. Has anyone used Paul Mainwairing (Mater Private - brisbane) as an oncologist? Did you like him? Can you give me any information at all... I would really appreciate it.
I have seen 3 Oncologists now and 2 were in agreeance together and Paul was all for the new treatment targeting DNA. I am so nervous about this but had a reasonable good positive feeling.. but got the feeling he has an ego, but I guess that in a way is a good thing as most oncologists to date just don't believe in their medicine.
I am so confused. Any help you can give on him would be greatly appreciated. thankyou xx

shereejoy so sorry to hear about your mets - keep strong and fight with all you have. i have mets in the chest nodes which are clearing up with navelbine and xeloda. are yours in the bone or the nodes?
paul mainwaring_
as im in wa perth he arranged a link up with me by skype.
we didnt go too far into anything as i had just been referred to new onc over here in the west, a andy redfern and basically all paul did was tell me yes to go and see andy and highly recommended him.
like you i had heard many many good reports about paul mainwaring and dont worry about his ego as long as he know what he is doing.
so yes set up an appointment with him and you can decide for yourself and if were over that side of aus i would definitely see him.
but id say he is very good as ive only heard great reveiws.
try and keep strong and positive, (know its hard) but you can do this.;

Hi liv,
I have it in my bone in my sternum. Thanks honey. So did you get rid of the nasty c? What chemo did you do?
Isn't xeloda, the tablet? Never heard of the other one??

has the tac horrible horrible one first 6 months.
now on navalbine xeloda as cancer was back in nodes after mastectomy and as it was a huge tumor 10cm trip neg ibc after arguing wit my old onc that would not give me more treatment, once i sacked her and got onto my new onc, he straight away put me on more chemo.
not many side effects apart from tired and take them orally. nodes have shrunk a lot but this shit of a thing will more than likely mets soon or later..
whats your chemo going to be?

Oncologists
Hi
Paul Mainwairing is my oncologist since I was diagnosed with TNBC in November 2012. I have been very happy with him and he has always been very honest with me. He fully explained my options to both myself and my husband and we are fully confident with his care. He is very busy and you need to have a list of questions ready for when you see him. Last time I saw him I did this and he took the time to answer all my concerns. He has weekly sessions with other Oncologists from around the world and discusses the latest in treatment options. I am on a slightly different treatment to the normal in that I am having neo-adjuvant Chemo and also having Paclitaxol first, this is apparently the newest way to treat TNBC. He explained to us that as TNBC is more responsive to Taxol it is now being given before the EC. Take the time to have a look at his website as it has a lot of information in it. I would fully recommend anyone to see him.

Hi Sheree
I did a bit of "snooping" and had a look at this oncologist's web site. I note that he flyies into Gladstone. Does he visit Rocky or Mackay?? There are positive comments on here about him. XLeonie
