Brain scan ??

pinkpeonie's picture

Hi lovely ladies

I was just wondering if those who have had a brain CT could give me the heads up on what to expect.

Someone I was talking to told me that they had to wear a metal mask that was fixed to the table and their arms were fixed as well.

Is this the usual practise for a brain CT ?

I am pretty claustrophibic and am now feeling quite worried.

Was trying to be calm about needing the brain scan to start with - oncologist has said I should have it based on some symptoms I am having.

Flying / Lymphodema

HI lovely ladies

I was just wondering what your thoughts were on flying and the need to wear an arm sock!!

I had a mastectomy and lymphnodes removed last year in April - we are going on a much needed family holiday next week.

This will be my first aeroplane flight since the op - it is for about 4 hours - do I need to wear a lymphodema sleeve to prevent anything or is it okay to go without.

Just thought I would ask those in the know - hope you having a good day x

Take care

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering - I completed my herceptin a few weeks ago and have since had a mammogram and ultrasound on remaining breast - all clear thank goodness !!!

Just wondering though i have seen that a few have mentioned having a bone scan at this time also. I wasnt offered this - should you or do you usually have one at your year check up.

I had 2 tumors grade 2 , with a small lymphovacular invasion but nodes clear !!

Mastectomy , chemo , radio and herceptin now on femara even though 43 due to early menopause!!

Mastectomy scar position

HI lovely ladies

This may seem like a strange question but just wondering of those who have had a mastectomy - whereabouts is the position of your scar!!

I had a right mastectomy in April 11 and my scar seems very high up - clearly nothing I can do about that now but was just wondering if usually the scar is "midboob' line - mine is so high up would be almost on the upper chest so it sits above the bra line even the sort of tank top ones. It is also so long as my lumps where towards the centre - it is about 18cms in length.

Rib pain

Happy New Year to all you lovely ladies.

I had a mastectomy in April and am still having rib pain.

This is 8mths after the op and was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

There are a few specific points on the side of the mastectomy that are still very tender to touch almoost as if they are bruised.

I had a recent bone scan which came back clear so hopefully that is not the problem??

HI lovely ladies

I was wondering if anyone out there is on Zometa and what your thoughts were about it??

I finished chemo a few weeks back and am 10 down on 28 radiotherapy sessions. The oncologist said that we will start endocrine therapy once all the rads are finised he didnt say whether it would be arimidrex or femara but said I should also start zometa to keep my bones strong .

Hi all

Hope you are travelling well !!

I finished my last chemo just over 3 weeks ago now - cyclophosomide, doxytaxel and continuing with herceptin.

I am really struggling with aching legs and sometimes body. this wasn't too much of a problem for me during chemo but seems to have really gotten worse!!

Especially towards the end of the day  find it really difficult!

Has anyone else had this and more importantly how long will it last!

Hi Ladies

Hope you are all travelling well out there!

I went for my second chemo yesterday and what was supposed to be an in and out 10 -1 experience turned out to be a whole day affair - what a business!

I do have another blog I write so rather than repeat it all again - I shall give you the link.

I was supposed to take some piccies yesterday at chemo but with all the drama I forgot!!

Porto cath - yeh or ney!!!

HI everyone.

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on having a portocath!

I still have to have 3 more chemo doses and then herceptin .

The oncology nurse recommended I have a portocath but to be honest I'm not feeling too keen on that option - I think I would rather be needled once every 3 weeks. Has anyone else had herceptin through their arm veins! I was told that herceptin isnt as hard on your veins as chemo so was hoping that after 3 weeks it may be okay for another go!!

Thanks lovely ladies x

Itchy here and there - 1st chemo

Hi all

Just had my first chemo this morning around 10.30 start and then finished around 3.15.

All went well at the time no excitement - took nausea tabs and feeling good.

In the last hour I have felt mild itchy ness here and there - not bad but aware of needing to itch.

I had doxytaxel and cyclo ... and herceptin .

At the initial dose of the taxol she told me to call her if I felt any itching tummy, back pain. Drug dropped in no problem - however now I have very mild need to itch - no rash or any other concern.
