IMMUNE SYSTEM NOT COPING

Kath Perrin's picture

I've now broken out in a hideous rash which covers my neck, up into hair line, shoulders, chest, stomach, tops of legs, partial back and top of arms. Doctor was horrified, picked up the phone and got me into a Specialist next Wednesday. I became a bit frustrated yesterday and my 13yo daugher put her arm around me saying "what's wrong Mum". I replied "look at me, I'm covered from head to toe in this horrible rash, my boobs as I knew them are gone, I've got scars, I just don't recognise me anymore". Her reply "Mum, it could be worse, you could still be bald"!

MEDICAL EXPENSES - TIPS

I wish someone had told me beforehand, but I found out the hard way! As far as tests go (not surgeries), if you need any tests whatsoever, xRays, ultrasounds, bloodwork, bone scans, brain scans or MRI's, book them for when you are an IN-PATIENT as they are 100% covered. So ask your GP/Oncologist if there are any tests/scans that can be done whilst you're an in-patient because you will save yourself megabucks. Ideal time to get your cholesterol checked for free! Last lot of blood tests showed a slight elevation in my tumour markers. I went and had another lot of bloods done this morning and will have the results next Thursday. If the markers are still elevated or have increased, I will speak with my Oncologist about going back to chemo. Fingers crossed.
