My story
2009 was supposed to be my year, the year I will take better care of myself.
Lose some weight, watch my diet and exercice more. I did all of that and was feeling so pround of myself.
Then 3 months after starting my new life, I felt pain in my left breast. I did think about breast cancer and rushed to my GP. She was not worried and sent me for a mammogram and an ultrasound. The mammogram was negative but the ultrasound was showing some strange lumps in both breasts. Few days later, the breast specialist called me to give me the results, Dr Cheng was not worried as well when I met him on my first visit, I could see something was different this time. I told me that I had early stage of breast cancer in my left breast and a mastectomy was the only surgery available for me due to a cancer lump and a pre-cancer cell. I could not believe what he was telling me, it was a real shock.
I had my mastectomy on july 22, 2009 and the surgery went well. The results of the lab were great, no heavy treatment needed. The cancer had not spread. I've been on tamoxifen for 11 months now and will be on it for another 4 years. I am doing very well, I had started work 5 weeks after my surgery and I've picked up my life where I left it with the help of my dear husband, family and friends.
The only thing I can say now, is normality is great not boring.
