Good news again
I went to see my oncologist last Tuesday and am very happy to report that my tumour markers are down again. Hurray!
Now, I have to organise another operation! This time to get my ovaries removed. Yes, I've decided to go ahead with it. Not looking forward to another hospital visit but at least it would mean no more monthly zoladex injections.
A better end to 2011 than 2010
I went to see my oncologist today. Some more positive signs that the Femara may be working to stabilise everything! My tumour markers were down again (third time in a row); the CT scan showed that my organs are all clear and my bone scan showed that the cancer has spread - but only marginally. Some areas, principally those that have had radiation treatment, have improved. I skipped out of that appointment, smiling like a lunatic!
One year on
A year ago today I was told that I had secondary breast cancer. My doctor told me the year ahead would be a rollercoaster ride and 'to forget everything else and just concentrate on my treatment and my family'. He was right.
While my year has been emotionally and physicallly draining, I have still had some wonderful moments too. I cherish my time with my famliy - my lovely husband and two children - as well as my parents and my sister. I have realised just what a wonderul life I have had so far and I plan on having more wonderful years too!
Some good news at last!
My two children seem to be playing happily in the sandpit so I thought I would take the opportunity to write a post.
Had an appointment with my medical oncologist today. And hurrah!! Finally, I've been given some good news. My tumour markers are finally going down after peaking at 765 six weeks ago. I changed from tamoxifen to femara 6 weeks ago and today my reading was 485 - still very high but down to the levels it was 5 months ago. It is the first bit of good news I've had in 9 months.
Half way
Well, I am halfway through my third bout of radiation treatment. Only five more to go.
I have been feeling really fatigued this week - not sure if that's the radiation or just a coincidence. Twice this week I have been in bed before my 2 children (aged almost 4 and 2 and who go to bed at 7:30!).
I've also had nausea which I know is related to the radiation even if the nurses seem doubtful. This is my third time with radiation and every time I have had nausea I don't think this can be coincidence.
