My story

I found a lump August 09 (8months after a clear mammogram).  It was around 2.7mm and was removed by lumpectomy Sept 09.  I had a clear margin but it was very small.  The cancer had spread to one lymph node, with the next 7 being clear. It was a triple negative tumour.

I had was booked for 6 cycles of TAC chemo, however had a severe allergic reaction to Taxotere at the first chemo and was then switched to FEC and had 6 cycles of that.

I then went on teo have 6 weeks of radiation for which I had to travel away from home.  I was given the all clear at 12 months and thought I was free at last.  However this was not to be the case.

In March 2011 (18months after 1st diagnosis and 6 months after a clear mammogram), I again found a lump.  It was quite big (3cm) and everyone thought it was a cyst.  Unfortunately it was again a quite aggresive tumour!!  I went on to have a mastectomy with much better margins this time and lymph nodes (8) all clear.

I went on and had 6 cycles of chemo.  This time I was treated with taxotere.  I had lots of antihistamine etc beforehand and all was fine!!

I finished chemo in August 2011 and my hair has just grown back for the 2nd time!!

I am now seriously thinking of having a propylactic mastectomy of my other breast and maybe a double reconstruction if I can work up the nerve for this surgery.  Would be interested to hear from anyone who has had similar surgery, espescially after radiation as I know there can be complications.

Hi,

Just wondering if many of you ladies have suffered with this?  I am 12 month's post my second lot of chemotherapy (I had a recurrance 18mths after my 1st diagnosis).  I have really bad pain under the ball of my foot which is much worse when I stand for long times.  It feels like there is a marble under my foot.  Has anyone had experience with this and have any tips for me.  Many thanks.
