My story

My diagnosis came out of the blue. I found a lump and went to the GP. I never thought it would actually be the dreaded C word. After all, I was fit healthy and surely too young? And my last mammogram in Oct 09 was clear.  But my mother is a breast cancer survivor so there were a few niggling doubts...

I had a lumpectomy (two ops actually - since the margins were not clear first time!) and then 6 weeks of daily radiation at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. I got very tired and felt some anxiety at first. My skin was so sunburnt - and stayed that way for 2 weeks after it finished. I was sore too.

I have just seen my oncologist for a follow up (Jan 2010) and she is happy with my recovery. i'm happy too! But I have said no thanks to Arimidex - read my blog to find out why.

All my friends and relatives have been wonderful, very caring and giving. I'm lucky to have such a great crowd around me. But it is also good to chat at this site - and I enjoy coffee out with ladies from this site too.

I am enjoying this site very much -it is great to read other stories and compare experiences. If you are a BC patient and would like to read of my experiences, please send me a contact request. I am happy to help by sharing my experiences with you.
