My story

I was 42 when diagnosed in 1998.

I had RIGHT lumpectomy, axillary clearance, (11 nodes taken, one node had cancer) followed by chemotherapy and radiation.

I was oestrogen receptor negative, progesterone negative, so no tamoxifen.

I had LEFT lumpectomy, sentinel node biopsy, radiation in 2003.

Instant menopause in 1998 at 42, after the first chemo.

I had  issues with grief/ loss/ denial, pain/ discomfort and coping with menopause symptoms etc.

I currently volunteer, am divorced, try and accept what is, work it out as I go along, live simply and try and be grateful for something each day.

I have slight lymphoedema. I manage with manual drainage, diet, gentle exercises, and occasional scanning light laser.

Besides myself (pisces_tas) and Mandy Forteath (Mandy Forteath), are there any others from the online network going to the Breast Cancer Conference, at the Grand Chancellor, March the 16 and 17th, in Launceston, Tasmania?

I would be happy to catch up, just to say hello, etc. on here beforehand;  if not, may see you at the Conference.

Well, I made " contact " with real faces and people at the Launceston Conference this last weekend, March 2013.

Thankyou to all who spoke and attended, plus the organisers. It was informative, fun and much appreciated.

I better get moving, cannot stay on here all day. There are things to do, places to go, people to see - Although i do like reading the posts on here.

I just had a 3 week road trip to Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Tamworth, Childers, Coonabarabran etc. drove 6000 kms. Went with a friend. Met some nice people and saw the landscapes also.

Now back in Northern Tasmania and winter has set in. Today is not bad, a bit of blue sky out there.
