Are you looking for a fun and exciting, even challenging way to support BCNA?

Perhaps you feel like giving back a little to the Network?

Or perhaps you are fed up with the focus being on yourself and your breast cancer related issues?

Maybe you want to put a positive spin on your breast cancer journey?

Or perhaps you just want to do something for YOURSELF, because YOU DESERVE IT.

So, here's my gripe. I would have had the bilateral mastectomies over 5 years ago,Without even knowing about breast cancer genes, when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer but I would have to have waited a few weeks to get the surgeons together and I the cancer was aggressive and i guess i was also convinced by my surgeon really that a lumpectomy with chemo and radio would do the trick and, since I was young (38), i might as well keep my boobs.

So, no surgery for me this week thanks to a crappy bout of flu and lung infection.
I met my plastic surgeon, Paul Quinn from Subiaco, and we decided to do the skin sparing bilateral mastectomies with tissue expanders and lat dorsi.
I'll find out this week when it will be postponed till. Obviously I need to get well first but I really want to get these ticking time bombs off me, so I hope I don't need to wait too long.

Hello ladies,

Some of you know my news from good ol' facebook. I am BRCA1 positive and will be having bilateral mastectomy 14th of August with reconstruction. Not meeting with plastic surgeon until Aug 8...so will know more about the reconstruction then.

I will also be having ovaries, tubes and uterus removed. Don't have date for that yet.

Feel free to comment from your experience.

Gotta take kids to movies now...XXX

Sorry ladies, my internet was down yesterday so I was unable to log in. I hope you all had a great Christmas and relaxing Boxing Day. We had a lovely surprise yesterday morning with a baby seal sunning itself on our beach! I will work out how to put up a picture...it made me smile so I want to share it with you. X
