Hi all, i joined this site after finding out i had 30mm nasty, I had 18 lymph nodes out and 2 were affected. Also had a masectomy of left boob. That was all in October 2012. My chemo started in Nov and i completed 4 cycles of EC. Pretty wicked stuff and was glad by the end of it. I found i was pretty nauseas the day i had it but then no more thank god. I did have other minor side effects that were annoying like horrid taste , bowel problems, skin broke out and lost all my hair. I think i found that the most devastating of the lot.lol. Anyway i am due to now start 12 weeks , once a week on paclitaxel. I would love to hear of any ladies who have had this treatment and how it effected them. I have heard a few mixed reations about this. Cheers

Hi
I am 7 weeks into 12 weeks of paclitaxel. I am having this before the EC, masectomy and radiation - so this is my first taste of chemo so can't compare to any others. I have had minimal side effects and have continued to work 4 days a week I have my chemo on Friday afternoons with plenty of pre-meds and take home emend, but apart from some tiredness, and just a little tingling in my toes and fingers and hair loss - I feel almost normal.
Hi , Thanks for the info, that is fantasic that you are handling the taxol so well. I can only hope i get the same.
Hi Tracey B
i have just finished all my treatments - FEC (had 3 rounds), Taxol (had 9 rounds) and 30 treatments of radiation. All finished beginning of November 2012.
Taxol to me was alot easier, as it is given weekly. My weekly treatment day was a Friday. I still felf tired, a little nausea. But taking all the meds given and resting, I was usually okay to go back to work on the Tuesday.
You still need to take care of yourself during Taxol, with thrush, nausea, joint stiffness etc. I was given a print out of the side-effects etc from my oncologist. So, if you weren't given on, just ask.
Hope this helps.
Julie
Thanks Julie, Thats fantastic you have finished all your treatments. I am pleased you found the taxol not to bad as well.
Well Ive just had my 3rd FEC
Lump out, and nodes about 15 removed, and a few cancerous. I am 46, had stage 3, aggressive and can only have Chemo and Radiation. Well each time I have had Fec I have felt worse, sick wise and was given two more drugs to help with that this time Pramin and the night time one, Lorazepam. Havent googled those yet. I just feel off all the time really, but havent thrown up thank god. First time I had a lot of side effects related to thrush, so I have up sugar, and that solved that. Second one I got a scalp infection, and a toenail became fungal. I am only 4 days into this one. Oh and always the constipation, just upt the col & sen. Eat all natural, no red meat and juice, and have the odd smoothy veg, fruit, lots of chicken, eggs etc. But the important thing here is to say CONGRATULATION to getting through the roughest bit without much drama. Must be the "F" side of it that causes the drama. Best of luck with the paclictixel, which Im not having, youll have to explain that one to me! Big hug, and thanks for your continued support to me. Bel
Taxol
Hi Tracey
We've already chatted about this but I thought I'd post it so others can see :-) I had 4 rounds of AC, followed by 12 weekly Taxol (I'm up to round 9 of that later this week). The AC knocked me around a bit (but not as badly as I feared) but so far the Taxol has been a bit of a breeze. I'm a little tired, but working full time (3 days in the office, 1.5 days at home then half day off for the treatment). I find I can do a day in the office quite easily but then I'm tired the next day so I've learned to stagger my outings and activities through the week to make sure I have plenty of down time in between.
The worst thing with the Taxol has been my big toenails starting to blacken and lift. I'm hoping to get to the end without actually losing them. No nausea, no heartburn, no gastric reflux, no headaches (all things I had in mild form on the AC).
You must be nearly done with it now - yay all of us!
