The BCAQ was established in 1993 with the purpose of using raised funds to benefit awareness of early detection, rural seminars and research. It provides support for those with breast cancer and their families, living in rural and regional Queensland. The BCAQ have invested in rural breast care nurses through further education via La Trobe University. BC nurses have been established in Rockhampton, Barcaldine, Mitchell and currently funding nurses in Emerald, Fraser Coast and Charleville.
