To Port or not to Port

Well, here I am sitting at home after my second AC treatment. I'm eating some weet-bix & feeling pretty good! Tough week after joining the bald club on Monday, but I feel positive since then as I see that as my lowest moment so far!

So, they tell me I need to get a Port - only 2 good veins - and for some reason the thought of it makes me very nervous indeed!

I welcome any input from you ladies out there!

Claire

Hello everyone, I hope you enjoyed your xmas. quick message to introduce myself as I'm keen to hear what experiences you have had with AC and Taxol chemo. ( Early breast cancer, left mastectomy, lympnodes removed, stage 3) Hormonal- negative)  I've just finished my 2nd treatment of AC ( 22nd Dec) 2 more to go at 3 weekly intervals and then Taxol weekly for 12 weeks. I've been advised that AC is the one that will shake me up a bit with Taxol being a walk in the park but more inconvenient.

Sorry guys I've been so slack updating!!!

Fourth and final AC chemo was on 14th of October. This means I'm officially half way through my eight cycles of chemo!!!!!!! Can't tell you all how happy I am about that!

I am starting on Taxorete next month now that I am on three weekly sessions instead of fortnightly sessions!! Another yay!!!!

I have had my head shaved to number one but majority of small hairs are still hanging on!! Taxorete may prove to be their downfall though.

For those about to A/C ...

For anyone about to start AC (doxorubicin/cyclophosphamide) chemo, I thought I’d share my experience. I’ve just completed four cycles of ‘dose-dense’ AC. (‘Dose-dense’ means it was administered fortnightly, instead of the more usual 21 days.) I’m about to start Docetaxel for the next four rounds, so stay tuned for some reflections on that, too.
