Young Women affected by Breast Cancer

About us

This online support group has been set up to provide a place for young women to connect and share their experiences of breast cancer.

Our Story

This group was originally formed in the lead up to the 2nd National Conference for Young Women Affected by Breast Cancer held on the Gold Coast in September, 2010.

With around 150 young women attending from across the country to meet, share their experiences and to hear advice on how to manage the issues affecting them. For more information on the conference visit the website ywcaustralia.org.au.

If you're looking for a way to start connecting with other young women;

Hi there,

I am 41 and have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer on January 11. I underwent surgery for a lumpectomy and removal of sentinel node and one additional lymph node on January 13.

My lypmh node results came back clear, unfortunately my margin was not clear so I am scheduled for round two of surgery this coming Friday.

Hi
Hope everyone is well and has had a great start to 2012.
It's Friday the 13th today and I have just got home after my very first chemo treatment. After all those sleepless nights, bad dreams and thoughts and so much stress my first chemo is in and I survived it. It wasn't anything scary at all. The unknown was the worst.
I know that receiving the chemo is the easy part and that I will face some interesting days over the next week or so but I'm still thrilled that i went to the clinic and it all went fine. I stayed awake worrying most of the night.

Hi I'm Judy and I hope I'm no too old for this group. I'm 46, married with 2 grown children(20&18). I was diagnosed on 8 Dec and have since had surgery on 21st Dec. I had a lumpectamy to remove the cancer on my right breast and a couple of benign but suspicious looking lumps from the left. Being well endowed I also had a Bi- lateral Breast reduction, to aid in further treatment. They also took the sentinal node but no others at this point. I'm still waiting on pathology because of the holidays, but should get it back this week and find out what the rest of my treatment will look like.
