From 8 August - 18 September 2011, BCNA  together with Nissan Australia worked to celebrate the women of local Aussie Rules and Rugby League football clubs though Footy's Hidden Heroes -- and the response was incredible!

Over 500 local footy clubs nominated the woman or women who are the hidden heroes of their footy club, with many getting the whole community involved in competing for the big prize.

As well as raising funds, Footy's Hidden Heroes gave BCNA the opportunity to raise awareness of the resources and services we provide to women and families affected by breast cancer. The campaign also built on our established connections and relationships with local sporting clubs and communities through Pink Footy and Netball Day.

An outstanding result

On 22 September 2011, Nissan Australian's General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Cameron Cooper, presented BCNA CEO Lyn Swinburne with a cheque for a generous $100,000 donation on The Footy Show (AFL)!

The clubs with the most nominations for their hidden heroes in each code, St Arnaud Football Club (AFL) and Toukley Hawks Football Club (NRL) -- each received a whopping $25,000 to spend on upgrading their club.

Nissan Australia also celebrated the leading Aussie Rules and Rugby League clubs each week of the competition by throwing them a 'Pink Event' to congratulate them and thank them for their support.

Thank you Nissan!

Nissan Australia's association with BCNA began with their support of Shane Crawford's That's What I'm Walkin' About fundraising marathon when Crawf covered an extraordinary 760kms from Adelaide to Melbourne last year.

BCNA would like to thank Nissan for their continued generosity and support of BCNA and Australians affected by breast cancer.

A special thanks to all of the local footy clubs who got involved and nominated!
