On 7 May 2010, 14,000 women wearing bright pink ponchos and 100 men wearing blue ponchos stood on the Melbourne Cricket Ground in a sparkling pink lady formation representing the number of women and men diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
This moving and powerful event supports Australians living with breast cancer.
"I am so proud to have been a participant in such a great cause and all night I had a sense that something special was taking place and that I was part of something really important." - Andrew.
A night to remember
Kate Ceberano performed 'You'll never walk alone', and after the event posted in her blog:
"Friday night at the MCG ( Russell, otherwise known as roberto russollini, Phil barani and I) performed 'Never Walk alone' to a field of the most courageous and powerful women and men, who are or have triumphed against Breast Cancer. I gotta say, It was a bit difficult watching the thousands of women and men streaming onto to the field to fill the pink lady. They represented the thousands that have or will be affected in the next coming year....its confronting. But I was happy to be there for them and grateful that I can be of use as an artist to uplift and assist people with music. Every memory good and bad has it own special soundtrack and I wanted ours to have some therapeutic value....a musical prayer for those here and for those no longer with us."
