BCNA National Summits

A heartfelt and emotional Mini-Field of Women was held on day 1 of the 2011 National Summit
Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, opened the BCNA Member Group Summit 2009

BCNA National summits are designed to build the capacity of Member Groups to support women and families in their communities, and are a way to involve key members of our Network who contribute individually in various ways. Through our Summits, Member Groups are able to develop a clear understanding of BCNA's work, and network with breast cancer champions across Australia.

BCNA National Summit 2011

Almost 300 BCNA members attended our National Summit in Melbourne in August. The delegates included representatives of our Member Groups, Community Liaisons, Consumer Representatives and other key breast cancer survivors. The busy three day program comprised presentations from leading women and breast cancer clinicians and a series of workshops designed to inform and inspire the women who contribute so much to their community.

BCNA appreciates the support of the Australian Government in part-funding the Summit through the Supporting Women in Rural Areas Diagnosed with Breast Cancer program.

BCNA Member Group Summit 2009

In August 2009, BCNA held a Member Group Summit where a representative of every BCNA Member Group was invited to attend. As part of the Supporting Women in Rural Areas Diagnosed with Breast Cancer Program, the Australian Government funded women from rural/regional Australia to attend and also to participate in an additional day that focused on 'Supporting Rural Women'.

During the Summit, delegates heard from a range of speakers including breast cancer medical experts, BCNA staff and other motivational speakers. Workshop share sessions offered delegates opportunities to share useful information to take back to their Member Groups.

Previous Summits were also held in 2006 and 2002.
