"After I'd been through my breast cancer journey I wanted to do something more, but raising two children and working part time means I don't have a lot of time. BCNA's Review & Survey Group has given this chance and it's so easy, I decide what I want to do and I can do it in my own time." - Review & Survey Group member
When there's an important survey being conducted, we will forward it to you by email and you can take part if you'd like to. We promise the surveys won't be too long, won't come too often and WILL be asking important questions to help researchers solve some of the puzzles around breast cancer.
So many of us who've experienced breast cancer first hand want to help generations of women who will follow us. Joining our Review & Survey Group is a really simple way to do this. Knowing more about YOUR experiences combined with input from thousands of other Australian women, could make a real difference.

Want to do more?
The Review & Survey Group is only one part of BCNA's Seat at the Table Program. The Seat at the Table Program offers various roles for involvement. The different roles allow for different levels of commitment and availability. By getting involved we know that those affected by the experience breast cancer can make a difference.
The Seat at the Table Program offers three different categories of involvement - Review & Survey Group, Community Liaison and Advocate. If you want to get involved in BCNA's Seat at the Table Program you can be involved in all categories or just one or two.
View this chart for an overview of How To Get Involved.
Before Applying to join 128.00 Kb the SATT Program, please read about the Community Liaison and Advocate categories.
Community Liaison
Community Liaisons have completed BCNA's one day Community Liaison Training Program. They are prepared to speak about their personal experience of breast cancer and represent BCNA across a range of activities within their local communities, such as speaking at a community fundraising event, being the face of a local media story or visiting our sponsors to let them know how much we appreciate their support. Often these activities occur during the week, so some time to spare is useful to ensure your involvement. Community Liaisons are also required to provide feedback about their involvement to the SATT Program Coordinator.
Being involved as a Community Liaison also provides you the opportunity to link together with others in your state or territory. Involvement as a Community Liaison is not only rewarding but continues to raise awareness and highlight the impact of breast cancer in local communities.
Advocate
Advocates represent BCNA in a wide range of forums including committees, working parties, conferences and in providing critical review of resources being developed for women with breast cancer. It is expected that potential Advocates will first undertake the one day Community Liaison Training Program before being invited to participate in a further Advocate Training Program in Melbourne.
Advocates are responsible for representing the experience and views of thousands of women affected by breast cancer and have a responsibility to consult with others in order to provide effective representation. Committee involvement sometimes requires Advocates to maintain confidentiality about the committee's work. Advocate involvement ensures that decisions about research, treatment and services take into account the real needs of women affected by breast cancer.
BCNA will brief all Advocates prior to their involvement and Advocates report back to the SATT Program Coordinator. This ensures Advocates remain supported and key issues and priorities continue to reflect the needs of BCNA's members. Advocacy activities may require an ongoing commitment.
The SATT Overview of Involvement provides a more detailed look at the three categories, including examples.
You can also read some case studies of SATT activities to give you a better idea of what's involved and the variety of activities our women are involved in.
