New BCNA Resource for Women with Secondary Breast Cancer
BCNA is excited to announce a new resource for women with secondary breast cancer. Hope & Hurdles, the result of extensive consultations with women who themselves are living with secondary breast cancer, and with those who treat and care for them, has been designed to offer women a resource that provides practical ways of living with secondary breast cancer. The Hope & Hurdles Pack is a unique and much needed resource which includes a range of booklets, brochures, and CDs, packaged in a convenient satchel. BCNA will distribute the pack, at no cost, to women with secondary breast cancer around Australia from the start of August this year. Watch BCNA's website for more information.

Research Updates
Predictors of Ovarian Reserve in Young Women with Breast Cancer
In the British Journal of Cancer: ovarian reserve can be diminished following treatment for breast cancer. This study evaluated biochemical and biophysical parameters of ovarian reserve in these patients. Biochemical and biophysical tests of ovarian reserve were performed simultaneously in young (age 22-42 years), regularly menstruating women with breast cancer (n=22) and age-matched controls (n=24).

Recent Increase of Breast Cancer Incidence Among Women Under the Age of Forty
In the British Journal of Cancer: This is a Swedish Study that used data from the Geneva Cancer Registry. The researchers found that in 2002-2004, breast cancer incidence in women aged 25-39 years increased by 46.7% per year (95% CI: 7.1-74.0, P=0.015), which surveillance or detection bias may not fully explain. If other population-based cancer registries confirm this trend, further research on breast cancer risk factors would be indicated.
