Handy Tips for holding your Mini-Field

In seeking feedback from Mini-Field Coordinators the following tips were provided for people considering running a Mini-Field.

  • If using council or private land seek approval for its use early (i.e. 6 - 8 weeks early)
  • If having guest speakers confirm them at least 6 to 8 weeks out.
  • If having a media presence at your Mini-Field contact them 6-8 weeks prior to your event. Breast Cancer Network Australia can also assist you in sourcing media for your Mini-Field and can provide you with press releases for your local media.  Please contact us for more information regarding media.
  • Get your invitations out early and give yourself plenty of time to promote your Mini-Field within your community.
  • Seek support from friends and family to help stage your Mini-Field, it can be a big job and more hands make light work!
  • Do not take on more than you can handle. Keep it simple and manageable!
  • If you have any questions about holding your Mini-Field , please contact BCNA.
  • Approach local businesses to utilise their resources or to obtain in-kind sponsorship for your event. Bakers Delight and Australia Post are our major sponsors for Mini-Fields and if you have these organisations in your area you may approach them to seek support for your Mini-Field.
  • Where you do receive support from local businesses, ensure that they are provided with recognition and thanks.
  • Have thank you notes ready for distribution after the event to distribute to those you wish to thank.
  • Where you want to get the public involved, choose a location that is visible.
  • Be clear about your vision for the day of the Mini-Field and focus on keeping it at the forefront of the planning.
