We have the following position available in our National Office:
Research & Policy Coordinator
BCNA has an exciting strategic agenda for our Policy & Advocacy Team in 2009. A major element of this agenda will be an enhanced research focus. As a result, we are looking for a Research & Policy Coordinator to lead this area through 2009 and beyond. This role will report to the Manager - Policy & Advocacy.
BCNA's Policy Team advocates for change to the health system and related areas, to improve outcomes for Australian women with breast cancer. We work collaboratively with women with breast cancer, researchers, health professionals and government in order to achieve effective change. We undertake research in order to inform and support our advocacy campaigns. Our research is focused on the issues that are important to women with breast cancer, with a particular focus on survivorship issues. Recent projects have focused on the impact of a breast cancer diagnosis on a woman's partner, women's information needs and preferences regarding high cost drug treatment options, and the cost of follow-up mammograms for women with breast cancer.
KRAs for this role are:
- Coordination of BCNA owned social research projects, focusing on issues surrounding breast cancer
- Responsibility for coordinating strategic collaborative research projects, i.e. projects which will involve sharing the research with other key bodies
- Coordination of policy and advocacy projects
Key selection criteria includes:
- Experience in coordinating social research projects (mandatory)
- Project management experience within a research or policy environment
- Proven ability to apply a strategic mindset to social research projects
- Policy experience within the health, community or government sectors
- A commitment to improving outcomes for women with breast cancer
This role would suit candidates who have coordinated social research projects which have directly aided advocacy agendas. Candidates from research consultancies, health bodies, community organisations and other NFPs with an advocacy focus are encouraged to apply.
This is a dynamic team which engages with our wonderful members and supporters daily and is led by our inspirational CEO, Lyn Swinburne. We offer a flexible workplace and good benefits including salary packaging. But most importantly, BCNA provides an environment which you will love coming to work at every day!
