Pink Lady Fundraising Race Day, Kembla Grange Racecourse, NSW

Bakers Delight bakeries across the Illawarra South Coast region are throwing their support behind Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA), hosting the annual Pink Lady Fundraising Race Day on 16 January 2009, at the Kembla Grange Racecourse.  

Entry at the gate is by donation for those wearing pink with all donations going to assist BCNA in supporting women affected by breast cancer.

Field of Women LIVE 2010-Announcement

4 December 2009

Breast Cancer Network Australia today announced that on Friday 7 May, fourteen thousand women and 100 men will take to the field at the MCG forming Breast Cancer Network Australia’s Pink Lady silhouette.

This powerful human display, ahead of the AFL’s Round 7 contest between the Demons and the Western Bulldogs, will highlight the growing number of Australians affected each year by breast cancer, and bring the statistics to life.

Geelong Forum - Living well beyond breast cancer - Monday 23 November 

November 2009

The first in a series of special events supporting women in rural and regional areas diagnosed with breast cancer.

One third of women diagnosed with breast cancer live outside major cities and face additional challenges associated with travelling long distances for treatment and limited contact with specialist health professionals.

In the first of a series of federally funded forums, more than 200 breast cancer survivors from the Barwon South West region will gather in Geelong on Monday 23 November, to hear the latest information and advice for living well beyond breast cancer.  

Clinical and psychosocial experts will present to the women on the latest advances in breast cancer treatment and care. Olympian and breast cancer survivor Raelene Boyle will share her personal story with fellow survivors including her experience in overcoming depression as a part of her cancer experience.

 The Berlei Bus will be on site offering free expert bra fittings.

Gold Coast Breast Cancer Forum

September 2009

More than 50% of breast cancer survivors report they have been affected by depression or anxiety after their breast cancer diagnosis. Olympic legend, breast cancer survivor and Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) Ambassador, Raelene Boyle AM, MBE, will speak about her own experience at a free forum on the Gold Coast this Saturday October 3 2009.

More than 120 breast cancer survivors will gather together for this unique opportunity to hear from breast cancer leaders and experts and to connect with other women facing similar challenges. As well as hearing personal insights and experiences of depression,women attending the Forum will hear from experts in the fields of exercise and diet and their importance in achieving the best health outcomes. Also on the agenda is the issue of managing personal relationships after breast cancer.

Breast cancer support is the right fit

30 September, 2009

On Wednesday, September 30, the women of Sydney are invited to board the Berlei Bus at Wynyard Park for a free bra fitting.

As part of Berlei's ongoing support for women with breast cancer, $5 from every bra sold at this event will be donated to BCNA to assist its mission to inform, empower, support and represent all Australians affected by breast cancer. In addition, $5 from the sale of pink Berlei Bras throughout the month of October will be donated to BCNA.

Rural and Regional Funding to BCNA and NBOCC

August 2009

The Federal Government today announced a special funding allocation of $2.71m for programs supporting women in rural areas diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Hon Warren Snowdon MP, Minister for Indigenous Health, Rural & Regional Health and Regional Services Delivery, announced the funding at the Rural and Regional Day of Breast Cancer Network Australia’s national three day Summit.

The Summit brings together more than 200 representatives from breast cancer support groups around Australia who gathered to share their stories, hear from experts in the field and strengthen their voice as advocates for change.

Member Group Summit

August 2009 

More than 200 leaders of Member Groups of the powerful Breast Cancer Network Australia will meet in Melbourne this week for a Breast Cancer Survivors’ Summit.

The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, will speak to the gathering of breastcancer survivors in her first official address as Patron of Breast Cancer Network Australia. She will also hear stories directly from the women about the impact of breastcancer on their lives.

Darwin Breast Cancer Forum

16 July 2009

More than 70 breast cancer survivors will gather in Darwin on Saturday 18 July to share experiences, discuss life after breast cancer and hear about the latest treatments.

Guest speakers include internationally renowned cancer specialists Dr Dennis Slamon from the University of California (USA), and Associate Professor Fran Boyle AM.

Topics to be covered include diversity in the types of breast cancer and the significance of the five year milestone.

Adelaide Breast Cancer Forum

 3 June 2009

Over 400 breast cancer survivors will gather in Adelaide on the 3rd of June to share experiences and discuss life after breast cancer.

Guest speakers include oncologist Fran Boyle AM and author Dr Stephanie Dowrick.
Topics to be covered include ‘life after breast cancer treatment’ and ‘how to maintain emotional wellbeing’.

Pink Footy Day May 2009

On the Mother's Day weekend (9 -10 May) VCFL clubs and Country Netball teams will be playing with Pink Balls to raise funds for Breast Cancer Network Australia.

A chance to pay tribute to an Australian champion

Marathon running champion, Kerryn McCann was today honoured by the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon.

At the request of the McCann's, participants have been asked to help raise money for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).  An organisation established to support and represent those affected by the disease.

High Risk Women Win Medicare Rebate

Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) is the peak national organisation representing Australians affected by breast cancer and links over 33,000 members and 209 Member Groups which provide a network of support for those dealing with breast cancer.

Through this work BCNA has earned a reputation for being well informed and equipped to assist the media with enquiries relating to breast cancer.

BCNA has a number of breast cancer survivors who are willing to share their stories. These women have personal experience and are passionate about breast cancer issues.

We also work closely with health professionals who are willing to speak about breast cancer issues and the impact on women and their families.
