Cancer Trials Registry
www.cancercouncil.com.au/cancertrials
This on-line database lists all ‘collaborative group' cancer trials supported by The Cancer Council NSW and open to patients in NSW. Information includes the type of cancer, trial status, treatment type and goals, summary, and who to contact for more information. A ‘collaborative group clinical trial' is an independent trial that involves specialists and researchers from a number of different hospitals - including interstate or overseas. Pharmaceutical industry sponsored trials are not supported by The Cancer Council NSW, and therefore are not listed.
Telephone Support Groups
The Cancer Council NSW has recently established two new Telephone Support Groups for women who are living with early breast cancer. One group is for young women (50 and younger) and the other group is for women over 50.
Telephone Support Groups are run via teleconference to link women who may otherwise be unable to access support or who may prefer an alternative form of support. Telephone Support Groups are similar to face-to-face support groups except they are conducted by telephone. Each group meets fortnightly, has three to seven participants and is led by two trained facilitators. This service is designed to support women with breast cancer in NSW.
