BCNA was excited to host our third National Member Group Summit in August 2009. This Melbourne based event brought together key breast cancer survivors including representatives from over 200 of our Member Groups across Australia.
In recognition of the importance of Member Groups in providing opportunities for women affected by breast cancer to link together and receive support, the Summit was run to:
-
Further build the capacity of Member Groups to support women with breast cancer
-
Inform delegates of the latest information about breast cancer and its treatment
-
Provide an excellent networking opportunity for breast cancer community champions across Australia
-
Strengthen ties between our Member Groups and BCNA, and with each other
All BCNA 234 Member Groups were invited to send one delegate to represent their group and to participate in an information-packed two day program. Delegates from rural and regional locations also attended an additional day focusing on ‘Supporting Rural Women'. The Australian Government provided funding for women from rural Australia to attend the Summit and for the additional day.
